Oesophageal stricture is the result of the acid reflux that occurs in patients with Barrett's oesophagus. The treatment for such strictures is generally endoscopic dilation, although for some intractable cases, surgical resection of the stricture is required.
Using both generic and disease-specific instruments, patients with Barrett’s oesophagus have deficits in multiple facets of quality of life. These include not only oesophageal-related symptoms but psychological consequences such as depression, anxiety, and stress.[64]
