The ability to drive is a common issue for many patients. Guidelines for driving vary by country so the discussion should be informed by local guidance.

Advise patients to see a low-vision consultant to help maximise remaining vision. Additionally, many patients with retinitis pigmentosa will eventually be entitled to register as legally blind, entitling them to specific benefits and protection under the law.
