Patient discussions

Patients should be well informed about symptoms and signs that may signify recurrence: unexplained vaginal bleeding or discharge, detection of a mass, abdominal distension, persistent pain (especially in the abdomen or pelvic region), fatigue, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting, persistent cough, swelling (of the abdomen or legs), reduced appetite, weight loss, or new-onset neurologic symptoms.

The period of maximum vigilance is in the first 2-3 years following primary diagnosis and treatment, during which time the majority of recurrences occur.[9]
