Gastrin elevation is a known consequence of proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy.[77]
In the majority of patients receiving PPI, gastrin levels are only moderately elevated (<400 ng/L or <4 times the upper limit of normal).[122] However, about 5% of patients may have gastrin levels exceeding 400 picograms/mL.[74][75][76]
INVESTIGATIONS
Discontinue the antisecretory agent and observe return to normal of serum gastrin, iron, cobalamin, and 25-hydroxyvitamin D.
