Eastern equine encephalitis virus infection

Monitor patients with neurological involvement for the development of seizures or elevated intracranial pressure. Monitoring for elevated intracranial pressure may prevent brain herniation and death. Serum drug levels may need to be monitored in patients who are on anticonvulsants. Patients who recover may suffer long-term neurological complications (e.g., changes in behaviour, impaired motor skills) and long-term neurological monitoring may be required.
