Report all cases of EEEV disease to the local health authority.

If a patient with EEEV infection has neurological involvement, monitor for the development of seizures.

If a patient is being treated with anticonvulsants, closely monitor the blood levels of these drugs to ensure that therapeutic levels are achieved.

Monitor for and treat elevated intracranial pressure should be monitored in order to prevent brain herniation and death.

Patients who recover from EEEV infection may suffer long-term neurological complications (e.g., changes in behaviour, impaired motor skills); therefore, long-term neurological monitoring may be required.
