Monitoring

Serial full blood counts to document resolution of the leukocytosis and eosinophilia, and measurement of muscle enzymes (in practice measuring creatine kinase, although other muscle enzymes, including aldolase, lactate dehydrogenase, and transaminases, may also be elevated) are required to confirm resolution of the disease, which usually occurs within 6-8 weeks of infection. Follow-up imaging is not indicated.
