Monitoring

Surveillance is recommended in order to minimize the risk of complications such as obstruction, bleeding, or cancer. The history and physical exam should be reviewed annually. Endoscopic surveillance is undertaken at regular intervals. Surveillance for extraintestinal malignancy should also be performed. This is best established under the care of a multidisciplinary team. This team may include gastroenterologists, colorectal surgeons, breast health specialists, gynecologists, geneticists, genetic counselors, and primary care physicians.
