Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)

There are no specific recommendations regarding discontinuation of contact precautions after MRSA infection has been treated.

Vancomycin and gentamicin may cause nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity. Levels should be monitored throughout treatment to maintain and adjust proper dosing.

Additionally, neutropenia may be seen with prolonged treatment with vancomycin and linezolid treatment. Full blood count should be monitored weekly when these medicines are used.
