Impetigo is a bacterial infection that can occur in weeping, fissured lesions, in which the skin barrier is compromised.

Topical or oral antibiotics aimed at gram-positive organisms, in addition to treatment of the underlying dermatitis, can lead to resolution.

More common in African-American, Hispanic, Latino, Asian, American Indian, and Pacific Island people, and those of Middle Eastern descent (Fitzpatrick skin types III–VI).[55] Most cases will improve spontaneously, but treatment may be prolonged for months to years to achieve adequate restoration of normal pigmentation.

Post inflammatory hypo or hyperpigmentation can occur from both irritant contact dermatitis (ICD) and allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). Permanent depigmentation resembling vitiligo (leukoderma) has been reported to various contact allergens including rubber, hair dye, and adhesives.[19][20][21] In one patch testing study, 78.4% of the 124 patients with ACD also presented with vitiligo.[56]
