Prognosis
Transient synovitis typically has a benign course, and recurrence is uncommon.[7] Close follow-up is recommended, and if pain worsens at any time or persists beyond 7 to 10 days, further evaluation is warranted to rule out other disorders.[24] Those children who do have a recurring episode usually have a benign course, although in about 10% it may be the presenting feature of a chronic inflammatory condition.[7] At long-term follow-up, 12% to 28% of patients describe hip pain after intensive physical exertion, and 0% to 18% had some limitation to range of hip motion.[24]
