Decreased sweating in miliaria profunda can eventually lead to hyper-pyrexia and symptoms of heat exhaustion including weakness, fatigue, dizziness, and collapse.[1][4]​ These symptoms, termed tropical anhidrotic asthenia, are most commonly seen in soldiers stationed in tropical climates.[4] However, all patients at risk for miliaria profunda should be educated regarding conditions that can lead to the condition (e.g. wearing of occlusive clothing and excessive ultraviolet exposure) to reduce risk.

Both miliaria profunda and, less commonly, miliaria rubra can be associated with hypo-hidrosis or anhidrosis localised to involved skin.[1][4] Following clinical resolution of the eruption, sweating can be decreased for as long as 3 weeks.[38]
