Monitoring
A young infant, <6 months old, with a large, rapidly growing infantile haemangioma in a high-risk location, may be seen as often as every 1 to 2 weeks. For patients aged >6 months old with a smaller, less rapidly growing haemangioma in a less-sensitive location, follow-up may be every 1 to 2 months or on an as-needed basis. Ulcerated haemangioma requires closer follow-up, every 1 to 2 weeks, until clinical progress occurs and risk of secondary infection abates. Patients whose anxiety level is high may benefit from close clinical follow-up despite the benign nature and course of haemangioma.
