Screening
Screening for retinal detachment is not usually performed in the absence of risk factors.
Patients with risk factors should be monitored at appropriate intervals.[14] Always monitor both eyes. Ophthalmologists usually monitor patients with high myopia and may prescribe a slit-lamp exam every 3 months to identify lesions such as lattice retinal degeneration (a vitreoretinal degenerative process that predisposes to retinal tears and detachment).[17][47] However, no scientific evidence supports the efficacy of this approach.
