Patient discussions

  • Discuss reproductive wishes, the risks of ovarian dysfunction and infertility, and options for fertility preservation before beginning treatment for patients of reproductive age.[130][131] Discussion of fertility issues should be ongoing and continue throughout survivorship.

  • Patients should be given information about symptoms of recurrence. Encourage early reporting of significant symptoms (vaginal pain, bleeding, swelling).

  • Patient education should include healthy lifestyle advice, sexual health, and potential long-term and late effects of treatment.

  • If applicable, patient education and counselling (preferably involving both partners) are very important components of managing sexual dysfunction.
