Patient discussions

Patients should avoid contact with other people if they have, or think they have, Lassa fever. Patients should seek immediate advice from a healthcare professional if Lassa fever is suspected.

Although the evidence is lacking, it is suggested that the Lassa virus can be transmitted via semen for up to 3 months after disease onset. Furthermore, guidelines report that sexual intercourse should be avoided for 3 months to avoid sexual transmission.[8]
