Patient discussions
Patients should initially refrain from any physical exertion until re-evaluated by a cardiologist in 2 to 3 weeks, which may include stress testing. Further activity should be based on the extent of myocardial damage with the acute myocardial infarction and the patient's condition. Patients should ideally increase their activity gradually in a cardiac rehabilitation program, which has a proven role, under a monitored setting.[228]
