Slipped capital femoral epiphysis

Patients should be followed up 2 weeks following surgery for a wound check. Ability to bear weight should be assessed at this stage. Appropriate instructions should be given, as non-compliance with recommended advice is common as pain subsides. X-rays should be ordered periodically during the post-operative period to ensure that no further slippage has occurred and that closure of the physis has taken place.
