Platelet-rich plasma

Several small studies have suggested that the application of platelet-rich plasma enhances the healing of pressure ulcers.[96][17]

Growth factors

Topical application of platelet-derived growth factor to a stage 3 or 4 wound may promote healing.[97] Application of recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (rhGM-CSF) may have a beneficial effect on pressure ulcers, but there is currently insufficient evidence to recommend its use.[98]

Topical phenytoin

It is uncertain whether topical application of phenytoin (as a powder via an impregnated dressing, or as a cream) improves healing of stage 1 and 2 pressure ulcers.[99] Further adequately powered RCTs are needed.
